Steven is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a seasoned leader in the human services industry. He received his bachelor of arts in communication from the State University of New York at Albany, and he achieved his master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare. Steven has served in a variety of clinical and vital leadership positions in the social work arena throughout the five boroughs of New York City and on Long Island. Steven has extensive experience working with adults with mental health disorders in an impressive variety of residential and clinical settings throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island.
Steven prides himself on his ability to manage in complex systems of care to bring qualitative services to individuals in need and on the path to healing. He has over 20 years of experience working with the severely mentally Ill population in substance abuse recovery, city jails, mental health clinics, congregate residential settings, supported housing programs, homeless shelters and mental health clinics. Steven has led several pilot initiatives establishing programs and growing multidisciplinary teams from the ground up. He also provides clinical supervision to social workers in pursuit of their clinical licensure. Steven is a firm believer in empowering
individuals to maximize their potential by using evidence-based practices and strengths perspective approaches to foster clinical, personal, and professional development. Steven knows that mental health struggles shouldn’t define an individual and as they’re only one component amongst many that make up the beauty of a whole human being. When not at Smoky Mountain Lodge, Steven loves spending time with his family and friends and exploring East Tennessee.
