Therapeutic Yoga Instructor
Leigh Ann is a licensed clinical social worker with over five years of experience providing treatment and support to diverse populations with complex needs and an array of mental disorders. She possesses strong diagnostic and clinical skills with ongoing experience providing evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Intervention and Solution Focused Therapy. Leigh Ann was intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) by the Linehan Institute in 2013 and implemented a comprehensive DBT program for a local community behavioral health agency. Through the application of DBT, Leigh Ann has become highly skilled in the assessment and risk management of persistently suicidal individuals.
In addition to providing psychiatric assessments and treatment in the emergency room, Leigh Ann is a dedicated yogi with a passion for teaching and promoting wellness, currently teaching Bikram yoga and therapeutic yoga. She combines yoga with the use of evidence-based interventions, incorporating cognitive therapy with mindfulness, meditation, and body movement for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and emotion regulation.
Leigh Ann’s approach is to teach and help individuals with discovering ways to reclaim their bodies and promote change within themselves through self-discovery, improved insight and the development of practical coping skills. Leigh Ann believes that transformation and growth can occur within anyone despite how complicated their circumstances are. Her therapeutic yoga sessions are rooted in compassion with the goal to empower people to enhance self-awareness, increase mental and physical strength, and to find and embrace their best selves.
