As a clinical therapist, Katie specializes in working with people who have experienced trauma. She has experience working with clients suffering from mental illness in inpatient and outpatient settings for individual, couples, family and group therapies. Katie uses a variety of evidence-based practices in her clinical work including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Seeking Safety, and Motivational Interviewing. She received a master’s degree in social work as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in child and family studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. While earning her master’s degree, she also worked to achieve the Trauma Treatment Certificate. As a social worker, Katie has a strong passion for empowering her clients, treating each client with dignity, and encouraging clients to be the expert on their own lives. When she is not providing therapy, Katie enjoys hiking in the Smoky Mountains with her husband and two dogs.
