Katie has over four years of experience in facilitating group and individual therapy for a wide range of diagnoses and populations. She uses Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and a Jungian Art Therapy model to fully understand the underlying causes of mental illness, using the unconscious mind and coping skills to help alleviate distress in one’s life and provide skills to continue on the path to wholeness. Katie has developed MBSR meditation groups for the largest inpatient psychiatric hospital in the country and founded The Horticultural Therapy garden for this hospital through a proposed grant; leading art and horticultural therapy groups for those suffering with, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and an Art Therapist registered with the Art Therapy Credentialing Board of North America. Katie is also spearheading a program as a Social Care Farmer to help adults with autism learn how to grow flowers and live a purposeful and mission-driven life. Katie works 1:1 to support individuals with autism as they learn to grow, cultivate, harvest, market and deliver flowers. Katie believes that everyone deserves time outside to experience the growth of something from seeds to see how they can grow and change with care and support. Katie combines this idea of nature-as-therapy into her sessions and her own daily life.
