Stables Program Manager
With over fifteen years of field experience, Cathie has gained extensive knowledge in providing interventions for persons with emotional disorders, people needing geriatric care, and individuals with dual diagnoses and neuro-developmental challenges, while specializing in sensory integration and behavioral interventions. Her work at Pasadena Villa includes helping to implement the Social Integration Model at Smoky Mountain Lodge and the Stables by utilizing a holistic approach in the areas of cognitive, emotional, social, physical, spiritual, and sensory integration. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology and her graduate degree in Recreational Therapy, both from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She is a Certified Recreational Therapist licensed through NCTRC (the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification). Cathie has additional certifications in Therapeutic Riding through PATH Int’l and in TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped Children) through the University of North Carolina. She is also a part-time instructor at STAR (Shangri-la Therapeutic Academy of Riding) in Knoxville, where she works with horses, volunteers, interns, and the full-time staff to enhance the quality of life for riders.
