Admissions Coordinator Sarah Clabo from Pasadena Villa’s Smoky Mountain Lodge leads residents on activities once a week that involves art, called Create.  Spring is lambing time. Recently residents have focused on the creating some little lambs to celebrate the newest arrivals to the Stables at Pasadena Villa’s Smoky Mountain Lodge, and it sparked tons of creativity. These twin baby lambs are the first lambs to be born at the Pasadena Villa Smoky Mountain Lodge farm!  Sheep is a generic term, referring to ewes (females), rams (males), and their offspring (lambs). Similarly, the term goat refers to does (females), bucks (males), and their offspring (kids). The lambs are still without names since they were just born, but more to come!

To fabricate the cute little lambs, the group used basket reed to make small wreaths. Next the wreaths were wrapped in wool yarn. Finally, wooden pieces used to make the head and legs. It was a simple project however; the residents were very excited! Everyone cannot wait to get to the stables and see those babies!

Pasadena Villa programs set out to create a comforting and therapeutic environment. We do things a normal family would do. Our staff and residents learn and model appropriate social and communication skills, from daily mealtimes, to many fun and relaxing arts and crafting activities. Our psychotherapists, recreational therapists and our specialized animal care professionals work together with the therapy animals as a therapeutic team for our residents. This team approach provides a very unique and relaxing therapeutic environment where the residents can relax and develop their own special bonds with the animals and our animal care staff.

Our mental health professionals work directly with residents. They observe them in actual social situations and incorporate these observations directly into the resident’s ongoing treatment plan.  This individual real life personalized attention makes the Pasadena Villa treatment experience more appropriate, relevant and beneficial for each of our residents, especially when compared to any other available adult residential treatment mental health services. As one of the very first programs in the country to base its treatment upon Social Integration, our mental health facilities offer help through a unique mix of individualized therapy and group residential programs with a clear focus towards achieving more independent living.

The Villa Orlando and Pasadena Villa’s Smoky Mountain Lodge are adult intensive psychiatric residential treatment centers for clients with serious mental illnesses. Our outpatient center is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. We also provide other individualized therapy programs, step-down residential programs, and less intensive mental health services, such as Community Residential Homes, Supportive Housing, Day Treatment Programs and Life Skills training. If you or someone you know may need counseling on mental health services, please fill out our contact form or call us at 407-574-5190 for more information.
