Matthew Hicks, MS, CTRS – Recreational Therapist

Matthew received his Master’s of Science in both Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Administration from the University of Tennessee. His undergraduate studies were in Philosophy and Religion (minoring in Psychology) from Carson Newman College. He is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and has extensive experience in team-building, group dynamics and ropes course facilitation.

Matthew is passionate about the use of recreation and leisure to both promote healing and sustain a healthy life style. Living in the area for the past fifteen years, Matthew has a firm understanding of the wonderful resources available in the local area and the neighboring Smoky Mountain National Park. In conjunction with his work at the Smoky Mountain Lodge, Matthew also teaches in the Recreation Department at his alma-mater, Carson Newman College.
