TLLC’s Staff & Clients Participate in the Miles For Hope Brain Tumor Awareness 5K Walk/Run
On February 12 TLLC (staff and clients) Pasadena Community joined both hearts and hands and participated in the Miles For Hope Brain Tumor Awareness 5k Walk/Run. Honoring the memories of those whom have lost their lives to this disease, providing support to those who are currently dealing with this disease, and promoting a sense of unity and support for the families and patients; letting them know we are here and we care. The experience was life changing for everyone. We had the honor and joy to represent a wonderful little girl named Ava. Ava was 6 years old when she was diagnosed with a malign brain tumor. Clients had the opportunity to learn a little bit of Ava’s life story and experience her death thorough a video of her memorial service. Ava’s condition and her passing away evoked emotional and caring responses from our clients.
In one form or another clients related to the sentiment of loss, were able to verbalize their appreciation for life, and share memories of their lost loved ones. After viewing the video of Ava, as a team, we went to Lake Eola for our 5 K training with a sense of commitment; wanting to contribute with the responsibility to raise a conscious awareness of this disease. On the day of the event we had a chance to make a monetary contribution and share with Ava’s family, other team members, as well as others joining hands for the cause. Following the event we decided to celebrate our accomplishment with lunch and share our individual and collective experiences. Overall the group walked out with a sense of excitement, proud full, and hopeful.
